Hi I’m Kierra, Owner and Lead Photographer here at Taylored Grace Photography. I am wife and a mom to three very active boys – who are my absolute favorite subjects to photograph. I’ve always appreciated how my own mother took tons snapshots of me as a child and stuffed them into boxes and albums that I revisited from time to time. The “Awwwws” and “Remember whens” are kept safest inside of photo albums.
As I grew older photography became something that I wanted to create. When I got married and started my own family, I begged my husband for a camera for Christmas. He gave it to me (because I married smart). From then on I began to document our journey together. With each child, I was able to capture memories and moments that will last forever. Some of those moments are with people who are no longer here, and to me, that’s whats makes photography special. In photography time stands still, and when we view pictures, our hearts and minds can travel to moments that are forever gone. I’ve spent six years learning how to do this with excellence with my own family, now capturing your moments and keeping them safe is what I hope to do for you.
Behind the Name
We all have special things in us and we wonder where they come from. When we discover the roots to who we are we hold on to it in the same manner that one holds a precious photo locket on a chained necklace. I have always imagined my self as a photographer taking pictures of people in their joyous moments and in their quiet moments. I always wanted to capture the look in someone’s eyes that tells the story of their entire life.
It wasn’t until recently that I found out that my dad would envision photography in the same way. I had no idea that my daddy shared my love for photography — or actually that I shared his. I saw “back in the day” pictures that my dad had taken of my Aunt and Uncle hugging each other laughing that looked like I would have taken them myself had I been there. I have the same “eye” for photography as my dad, but I never knew. Our shared interest became apparent to me when he handed down his vintage Canon sporting a 50mm lens — which also happens to be my go to lens on my camera.
You might not guess that my dad was ever into photography, mostly because he goes to work wearing a blue collar. He’s worked on cars and worked with his hands since I can remember. It makes me wonder how many painters actually have the heart of Van Gogh, and how many welders are poets — because my dad is surely a photographer.
My dad’s name is Greg Taylor.
I named my company Taylored Grace Photography for him, and my Taylor family from whom I get my creativity from.
The “Grace” is in the moments that we capture. We find grace in the smiles, the laughs, the moments of solitude, and reflection. Grace is in the peace and in the excitement. Grace in the sad tears and in the happy tears. The grace of life is abundant and it’s “taylored” (tailored) just for you. It’s always enough – and there’s always more.
Grace floods our lives everyday, and that’s what we photograph.
